Great Falls walk-off snaps Redhawks’ rally

GREAT FALLS — The Westwood baseball team (3-3, 2-2 Region V-5A) beat Ridge View 12-2 Thursday, but Great Falls scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to hand the Redhawks a 6-5 loss Tuesday night.

Down 4-1 , the Redhawks’ scored four runs to take a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh. E Smith led off the inning with a walk, and Kellen Moore hammered a 2-2 pitch over the fence in right field.

Later, with two outs and Kaden Ragins and Nygel Woodard on base, Zachary Nelson came to bat. Ragins, the courtesy runner for Raelyn Seaton, stole home. Then with two strikes on Nelson, Woodard also stole home and take the lead. Nelson, however, struck out looking to end the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh with one out, Great Falls scored a run on an error to tie the game at five. Kelby Brantley ended the game by driving in the game-winning run on a single.

The Redhawks played host to Great Falls Wednesday and is at Spring Valley Tuesday.
